$250,000 Paid in Captal Credits

January 2007

Capital credits are a unique benefit to cooperative members. No other utilities have a program like capital credits.

CWEMC continues to have one of the best records of any electric cooperative in the state in paying patronage capital to our members.

Members from the year 1981 were mailed checks in December. We mailed checks totaling some $250,000.

Your cooperative has returned more than $2 million in capital credits to our members since its incorporation.

In November Clarke-Washington paid $237,193.90 in ad-valorem taxes in Clarke, Washington, Wilcox, and Monroe counties.

The taxes are based on the assessed value of property, plant and equipment the cooperative owns in each county.

The largest tax amount was paid to Clarke County Revenue Commissioner Jay Duke. The cooperative paid $120,475.74 in taxes based on the assessed value of the cooperative’sassets in that county.

Taxes paid to other counties included: Monroe, $10,083.42; Washington, $88,917.70; and Wilcox, $17,717.04.

CWEMC is also responsible for paying other taxes such as payroll, franchise taxes, etc. making the total over $2.1 million.

Also, in this issue we announce our scholarship program for 2007. This is a worthwhile application for seniors.

Best wishes for a safe and prosperous new year.

Thank you.
