January 2007

The Title VII Indian Education Department at McIntosh Elementary offers many educational resources to students in the Washington County School System.
The month of November was Native American Heritage Month. To celebrate this event, the Indian Education students hosted a Cultural Fest on the first Friday in November. The students at McIntosh Elementary performed activities that go on during a Pow-Wow. The children as well as the parents worked very hard to make this a special event for the children, special quests and visitors.
This was the first year the program crowned a Title VII Princess. Phylis Lofton was crowned as Princess; Adrienne Reynolds was first runner-up, Tristen Reed, second runner-up, and Shayna Lofton was Best Personality. The crown was made by Ms. Gwen Johnston and was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Snow Jr. and family.
The Chahta Tashka Drums (which means Choctaw Warrior) were present. The drums consist of boys throughout the county and are under the leadership of Mr. Nick Johnston.
