JACKSON-Clarke-Washington Electric Membership Cooperative has five linemen helping South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association, located near Houma, La., restore power after Hurricane Gustav swept through that area on Labor Day. 

The line crew, David Bryant, Kenny Harrell, Harold Hoven, Jason Pipken and Bobby Pritchard, left Tuesday morning, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. toward Houma, La.  This area is located 40 miles Southwest of New Orleans and was hit hardest by Hurricane Gustav. 

These men from Clarke-Washington EMC make up about 210 line workers representing 21 rural electric cooperatives in Alabama who are helping out during this time of need in Louisiana.

When storms hit or disaster strikes, a national network of over 600 co-ops provides vital support when needed in disaster situations.  Other Alabama cooperatives in assistance are Baldwin, Cullman, Marshall-DeKalb, Tombigbee, Black Warrior, Joe Wheeler, Clarke-Washington, Cherokee and Arab.
