CHATOM-In February Clarke-Washington EMC broke ground on a new 5,600 square foot warehouse facility at its Chatom office location on Alabama Highway 17, north.

The new warehouse will replace a smaller building which is in need of repair and presently cannot store all the material used in line construction.  The building will store all materials used to build underground and overhead power lines.

“The new warehouse will enable us to get all of our material stock in and out of the Junior Carpenter & Joe Hoffman of the Chatom CWEMC office talk about the new warehouseweather and will make us more efficient,” said Clarke-Washington EMC General Manager Stan Wilson. “We will be able to take larger shipments and handle a greater supply.  The new warehouse will be an asset to all the customers served from the Chatom office of Clarke-Washington EMC.”

HUB Construction Co. of Jackson is the contractor and the warehouse is expected to be completed by mid-summer.

“A new warehouse will provide additional space to keep more materials on hand and help us serve our customers quicker and more efficiently,” said Joe Hoffman, who works with line hardware at the Chatom office.  “Having extra items stored here, locally, will be helpful in case of disastrous situations.”

“By having more supplies here at this location, there will be a shorter turn around time in completing service orders and it will all-around suit the needs of Clarke-Washington EMC customers served by our employees here at the Chatom office,” said Junior Carpenter superintendent for the Chatom office.  “A new warehouse is a great benefit for our customers.” Fuel tanks are also planned for district operations.

Construction of the new warehouse is just one of the ways Clarke-Washington EMC is working to provide efficient customer service and to continue providing electricity at a good value to our customers.

Clarke-Washington EMC is a Touchstone Energy Electric Cooperative and has been serving residents of Clarke and Washington counties and portions of Monroe and Wilcox counties since 1936.
