Storms rip through Washington County during the early morning hours on Nov. 15. Storms went through the Beaver Damn Road and Yarbo areas causing extensive damage to power lines. Three Alabama Electric Cooperative (AEC) transmission structures were twisted off from the high winds. These high winds also caused a lot of damage to Clarke-Washington EMC’s (CWEMC) distribution system.
CWEMC crews worked diligently throughout the day and night following the storm and power was restored to the majority of homes by Wednesday night.
A special thanks goes out to the Chatom Police Department and the Yarbo Fire Department for helping with traffic on the heavily traveled Highway 17 North of Chatom where CWEMC and AEC crews had extensive damage.
